How We Work

The RMA is currently located in Paisley and employs 13 members of staff. As a small organisation, our success is dependant on developing expertise, commitment and team work. We value our human resource and respect all members within each of our functions (Development, Delivery and Business Performance).

Our work is coordinated by our Board, who are responsible for setting the strategic direction of the RMA and, together with the RMA Chief Executive, ensure that Best Value is achieved through efficient and effective use of resources and personnel.

The RMA follows a development and delivery work cycle (see page 7 of our corporate plan). The team works in an open, friendly and professional environment where each member critically contributes to the outcomes and success of the RMA.

Through our research projects and evaluations of data, we provide an evidence base and recommendations of good practice in the risk assessment and risk management of serious violent and sexual offenders. We work with national and international partners in setting standards and contribute to national working groups.

We develop training programmes to promote best practice and support stakeholders through our standards and other publications.

We facilitate the delivery of processes associated with the Order for Lifelong Restriction. This includes the provision of ongoing support to accredited assessors and advice to practitioners interested in becoming accredited assessors.
