RMA Accreditation - Persons and Manners
This section of the website provides general information about the RMA's function to accredit persons and manners to undertake risk assessments, under a Risk Assessment Order, for the Court's consideration of imposing an Order for Lifelong Restriction. The Scottish Ministers have given the RMA the power and responsibility, by way of an order, to accredit persons and manners and we do this in keeping with the Accreditation Scheme Legislation. More detailed guidance and information on how to become an RMA accredited risk assessor is available on the following pages.
We have set out information relating to the accreditation of risk assessment manners. The manners are the methods and practices by which assessors will carry out their risk assessments. These include standards, guidance and guidelines for:
- the tools that can be used for the purposes of risk assessment; and
- the design for the Risk Assessment Report (RAR) which the assessor has to prepare for the High Court. The RAR will inform the Court’s judgement on whether to impose an Order for Lifelong Restriction on a serious offender.
