Bespoke Training Programmes
Working with various stakeholder groups and academics we have commissioned the development and delivery of various key training programmes.
Our Risk Management Planning and Practice Programme was developed on our behalf by Coventry University and is based on our Standards and Guidance. With the ongoing development in the national FRAME (Framework for Risk Assessment and Management Evaluation) project, planned changes to our Standards and Guidelines, and the introduction of tier specific training in support of FRAME, the original 5 day programme is being revised and redesigned for delivery as 3 different training events, moving from initial assessment and scanning for risk through to full risk management planning.
During 2008/2009 our training programme on the Structured Professional Judgement Approach, including awareness training on HCR-20, SARA, B-SAFER, SAM, and RSVP, was revised and updated by Professor David Cooke, Dr. Lisa Marshall and staff from the Cognitive Centre Foundation. A pool of trainers have been identified and details can be obtained by contacting our Training and Events Co-ordinator . The administration and funding for delivery of these courses would need to be arranged by any requesting organisation, but initial arrangements could be facilitated by the RMA.
Risk Assessment Report Writing module. Developed on our behalf through the School of Forensic Mental Health, the module has been authored by a number of well respected academics and risk assessors, to support individuals who wish to develop their report writing skills. The module is not an introduction to risk assessment report writing but is aimed at developing an individual abilities in this area. The module is based on the standards and competencies required to become an RMA Accredited Assessor but delegates are not necessarily expected to apply to become an RMA Accredited Assessor, nor is successful completion of the module a guarantee of Accreditation.
The RMA has fulfilled a lead role in the delivery of training on LSCMI (Level of Service Case Management Inventory) to support the Scottish Government in its national implementation of LSCMI. The training has been developed to make it more relevant to practitioners in Scotland and to include an initial assessment and scan for risk prior to completing the full LSCMI if required.
If you are interested in any of our training programmes for yourself or your organisation, contact us (see below) for an informal discussion.
