A key role of the RMA is to develop materials that support practitioners of risk assessment and risk management.
Part of the RMA statutory duties is to provide standards and guidelines for the purposes of supporting the Order for Lifelong Restriction. To promote consistency and high levels of quality in risk assessment and risk management we are developing more broadly applicable standards, guidelines and guidance with our key stakeholders.
We further support practitioners in carrying out risk assessment by providing evaluations of commonly used risk assessment tools. RATED is one of our publications that provides a directory of risk assessment tools, categorised into relevant areas of work. This document is periodically updated and available in electronic format.
We analyse existing research, evaluate current working practices from around the world and provide evidence for best practice in risk assessment and management. Evidence of this research can be found in our research papers section of this site.
We are keen to share Scottish developments in risk assessment and risk management, and learn from others. To do this, we have produced and contributed to several documents and given presentations to vari audiences. These papers and publications are also available on our website in the RMA Publications and Presentations section.
